General FAQ's

What is the active ingredient in EradiRat® and EradiMouse® rodenticides?

EradiRat® and EradiMouse® products contain no specific acute toxins or poisons. They are composed entirely of natural vegetable materials. Thus there is no "active" ingredient comparable to that of conventional rodenticides

What is the regulatory position of EradiRat® and EradiMouse®?

Because EradiRat® and EradiMouse® contain no acute toxins but are formulated entirely from natural vegetable products and have a physical mode of action, they have gained approval under the Control of Pesticides Regulations 1986 for use as directed, and are registered by the Health and Safety Executive.

How do the products work to kill rats and mice?

EradiRat® and EradiMouse® work by interfering with the normal operation of the rodent digestive system and disrupting its normal function.

How humane are the products?

By definition if they kill rats and mice, there must be some cruelty?
Behavioural observations accompanying laboratory trials offer little evidence of distress or discomfort. In the last few hours before death, affected animals may become lethargic and huddled, but there are no other indicators of pain or distress: far fewer than those apparent with conventional poisons.

Natrocell products safe to use?

Natrocell products are highly specific in action and are completely safe to use when used as instructed, even around human foodstuffs - such as in restaurants, hotels, food factories etc. Due to their specific mode of action there is minimal risk of non-target poisoning of other species and there is no evidence of any risk to companion animals such as dogs and cats.

[NB: Pellets may present a choking hazard to children.]

How effective are Natrocell products in the presence of abundant

alternative food sources?
Field use makes it clear that Natrocell have proven highly effective in many situations where alternative, highly palatable sources of food are freely available, such as grain stores or chicken broiler units.

Are Natrocell products effective in every case?
I have heard that there are situations in which they fail to control rats and mice.

No rodenticide is effective in every situation, but many failures are due to incorrect use of the baits used - whether Eradiproducts or anticoagulant poisons. Natrocell products are not acute toxins like anticoagulants, and must be presented with a very different approach if they are to be fully effective, since the intention is to get the animals to use them as a primary food source.

How do cost and efficacy compare against conventional anticoagulant rodenticides?

Despite the fact that EradiRat® and EradiMouse® are presented as a food source and required consumption is thus higher than that of anticoagulant baits, in actual practice consumption is not greatly different. Thus actual costs of control are no greater than that for deployment of conventional baits.

Natrocell products are also as effective as anticoagulant baits. Because of their safety and their low environmental impact, these products represent the Green way forward in pest control.
